I cant say I would use a blog in my classroom. I feel as though we, as teachers, are trying to reach to far sometimes. I think they can be a great waste of time for people to see what other people are writing, or for people to vent and be even therapeutic for some.
I guess not being in a classroom makes my perspective a good bit different than those of you in the classroom now.
I have friends who have a ton of blogs that they follow each day - they also have desk jobs where they don't have to be up and moving and teaching. I can't keep up with the things I have on my own Google reader, let alone follow other peoples' blogs.
ReplyDeleteI do, however, think that our students can benefit from something they are familiar with being used in an educational way. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do with blogs in my own classroom (which is an elementary music room), and sometimes I come up with ideas that I think are useful and beneficial for my students. Other times I can't figure out how to fit these ideas into the less than 4 hours a month I see my students. I'm not counting blogs OUT, but I can see where you're coming from.
