Assistive Tech.

After sending in my tech cased study and interview, it still amazes me (I'm 27) at how far it has come. More so, the cost than anything. Just looking back at how much of this equipment was, even just a few years ago, makes the classroom that much more accessible. It adds so much more possibility for students, and allows for much more integration for students with needs.

Just like the student mentioned in my interview, that student would have to have so much more done for them if he didn't have the AAC available to him. It's a very simple concept, but changes lives.

  1. I had to laugh at your post when you mentioned your amazement at how technology has progressed since you were in school. Being a child of the 80's, when technology was still in its infancy, I feel that I grew up during the late Jurassic period when comparing the technology that was available then versus now. I wish I were more of a techie back then so I could track the upward progression of technology and thus have a better appreciation for it now. As the technologies become more accessible their cost will be reduced with each improvement.

  2. Classrooms are becoming so much more advanced! The technology and resources available to our students is astounding. It makes me wonder why test scores could be so low with all of these resources to assist students. Just imagine how different the world would be if Benjamin Franklin or Albert Einstein had the same technology available to them that we have!
